UWE Engineering Society

Welcome

Hello!

Welcome to the University of the West of England’s Engineering Society website!  If you’re interested in Engineering then this is the Society for you and by joining the society, you’ll have the ability to take part in interesting tours, talks and other activities related to Engineering.

Although the society is governed by the University’s Students Union (UWESU), you don’t have to be a student studying at the University to join – in fact, you don’t even have to be a student….or at UWE!

The Engineering society wants to give its members more than just a few activities to do here and there, so we ensure that we closely link with the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) to share our professionalism, wealth of knowledge and expertise in the engineering industry.  We do encourage our members to become members of the IET and many activities will be based around the institution.

The aim of the society is to encourage students to enjoy and take part in engineering either through their University course or by general interest.  For those wishing to pursue a career in Engineering, we will almost insist on those members obtaining membership with a professional engineering institution.

Facilities available to non-members are limited, but have a good look around the site and get a feel of what we’re up to.  Check out the “Membership” section to - just have a look if nothing else….

The Tri-Alliance

As one of our main aims for 2009/2010, we would like to join forces to form an 'alliance' with the relevant Engineering and Technology societies at Bristol University and Bath University.  Talks are already underway so now its just a matter of time.  We need your support - let us know what you think on the forum!
